Arusha leaves early in the morning at 6:00 a.m.; drive to Tarangire National Park. One of the hidden treasures of Africa, this should be on the schedule of any nature and isolation enthusiast. Covering 2,600 square kilometers, Tarangire National Park experiences dry conditions with a concentration of animal rivals comparable to that of the much-known Serengeti. Predators range from lion to cheetah and leopard. Birds of several kinds share these pools: tallish herons, green wood hoopoes, fisher lovebirds, white bellied go-away birds, and big kingfishers. Tarangire is famous for its baobab trees and amazing views of undulating savannah and acacia bush. The Maasai believe the odd-looking, centuries-old baobab trees to be the first tree ever created. After our picnic lunch in the park and wildlife drive, we head back to Kilimanjaro airport where your safari concludes at about 6:30pm.
