     Arrival in Entebbe/Kampala – Transfer to Kasese

    Your adventure begins with a scenic journey from Entebbe or Kampala towards western Uganda. After meeting your mountain guide, you will drive through Uganda's beautiful countryside, passing traditional villages, tea plantations, rolling hills, and the spectacular landscapes of the Albertine Rift Valley.

    Along the way, enjoy views of local communities, farmland, and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains as you approach Kasese, the gateway town to the Mountains of the Moon.

    Upon arrival, you will have a pre-trek briefing where your guide will explain the hiking route, safety procedures, equipment requirements, and what to expect during the climb.

    Day 2

    Nyabitaba Hut – John Matte Hut

     Nyabitaba Hut – John Matte Hut

    Hiking Distance: Approximately 11 km
    Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
    Altitude: 2,650m – 3,414m

    After breakfast, continue deeper into the Rwenzori wilderness. The trail crosses the Kurt Shafer Bridge where the Mubuku and Bujuku Rivers meet before climbing through bamboo forests and steep mountain terrain.

    Today's hike introduces you to the unique vegetation of the Rwenzori Mountains, including giant heathers and moss-covered landscapes. Continue through challenging sections before arriving at John Matte Hut, located in a beautiful alpine valley.

    Day 3

    John Matte Hut – Bujuku Hut

    John Matte Hut – Bujuku Hut

    Hiking Distance: Approximately 5 km
    Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
    Altitude: 3,414m – 3,977m

    After breakfast, trek through the scenic alpine zone towards Bujuku Valley. The trail passes through giant lobelia vegetation, open valleys, and beautiful mountain landscapes.

    The hike offers spectacular views of Mount Stanley and Mount Baker when weather conditions allow. Continue toward Bujuku Hut, located between Mount Stanley and Mount Speke, making it an important resting point before the final ascent.

    Day 4

    Bujuku Hut – Elena Hut

    Bujuku Hut – Elena Hut

    Hiking Distance: Approximately 5 km
    Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
    Altitude: 3,977m – 4,563m

    Today's trek takes you higher into the alpine zone as you approach the summit area. The trail climbs through steep rocky terrain and crosses sections of the Scott Elliot Pass.

    Continue towards Elena Hut, a cold and rugged mountain shelter located near Mount Stanley. This evening is dedicated to preparation and rest before the summit attempt.

    Your guide will provide final instructions and ensure all equipment is ready for the Margherita Peak climb.

    Summit Day – Margherita Peak (5,109m)

     Summit Day – Margherita Peak (5,109m)

    Hiking Time: 8–10 hours

    Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the expedition as you attempt the summit of Margherita Peak, the highest point of the Rwenzori Mountains and the third-highest mountain peak in Africa.

    The climb begins early, often before sunrise, with a technical ascent involving glaciers, rocky sections, and steep ridges. Climbers are assisted by experienced guides who provide safety support throughout the summit attempt.

    Upon reaching the summit, enjoy incredible views of the surrounding peaks, glaciers, valleys, and the dramatic landscapes of the Mountains of the Moon. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Elena Hut for rest.

    After breakfast, descend from Elena Hut through beautiful alpine scenery towards Kitandara Lakes. The trail passes through some of the most beautiful sections of the Rwenzori Mountains, including moss-covered valleys and unique high-altitude vegetation.

    Kitandara Lakes Camp offers stunning views surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, making it one of the most scenic overnight locations on the trek.

    Hiking Distance: Approximately 7 km
    Hiking Time: 5–6 hours

    Continue your descent through the mountain wilderness, crossing beautiful valleys and mountain passes. The route provides excellent opportunities for photography as you pass through different ecological zones.

    Arrive at Guy Yeoman Hut, where you will rest and enjoy your final night deep inside the Rwenzori Mountains.
