4-Day Zebra & Wildebeest Migration

Uganda: Private tour • 4 days

Tour overview

As the rain begins to fall around the end of November and the beginning of December, the zebra begin their long trek into the interior of the Kalahari Desert. They will continue to travel until they reach the Makgadikgadi salt pans in January. Zebras move in search of food and water. The Okavango Delta floods during the wet season, causing zebras to migrate to the Makgadikgadi Pans, where water accumulates and grass grows abundantly.

    Arrival

Meet and greet at Maun International Airport before departing for Nxai Pan National Park. The finest places to observe this beautiful migration are within the Nxai and Makgadikgadi Pans National Parks, and the ideal times to watch are from December to January and March to April. This season is also the least expensive in Botswana. The zebra herd joins the wildebeest migration because they are excellent at spotting potential threats. The wildebeest have a keen sense of smell and hearing, which aids in both predator avoidance and food search. The zebra has excellent vision to detect any threat. This migration draws predators, resulting in greater game and action. Stay here for three nights.
