This safari starts and ends in Nairobi. You will use the Madaraka Express train commonly known as the SGR train to travel from Nairobi to Voi and back. Salt Lick Lodge is inside Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a private wildlife conservancy in Tsavo West National Park. The entire lodge is on high stilts above watering holes and feeding pastures. The lodge offers a spectacular view of the wildlife from above.

  1. Day 1

    Nairobi to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

    Make your way to the Nairobi SGR terminus by 7:00 am. Set off from Nairobi at 8:00am aboard the Madaraka Express train in economy class, journeying towards Voi. Upon your arrival at the train station, your driver guide will be there to greet you and whisk you away to the lodge. After checking in and taking a moment to unwind while soaking in the lodge's amenities, you can look forward to a delightful lunch. After lunch, you will enjoy a brief rest before setting off on your afternoon game drive in the park, where an exciting visit to the artifacts museum of Taita Hills Safari Resort awaits you.   2. Day 2

    Explore Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

    On this day, you will rise for breakfast before embarking on an exhilarating game drive in the conservancy. On your game drive, prepare for an exhilarating experience as you encounter the majestic big cats of Tsavo alongside a variety of wildlife, including elephants, rhinos, hippos, lions, cheetahs, and buffaloes. You will also discover a rich array of plants and bird species, featuring the endangered corncrake and the near-threatened Basra Reed Warbler. Afterward, you will return to the lodge for a delightful lunch and a brief respite before embarking on an exciting afternoon game drive.   3. Day 3

    Taita Hills to Nairobi

    Following your morning meal, you will embark on an exciting journey with an en-route game drive to Voi train station for your train back to Nairobi. We can organize your pick up from the Nairobi train station for a nominal fee. "
