Meet in the morning in Addis and travel 230 kilometers to Awash National Park, which is a portion of the Great Rift Valley in Ethiopia. We will see the lava on both sides of the road as newly turned earth as we travel through the volcanic mountains and valleys to get to Awash National Park. We'll make a halt at the stunning and avian-rich Beseka Lake. Saddle-billed stork, African fish eagle, pink-winged pelican, and numerous other birds can be seen here. The nomadic Kereyu tribe can also be seen here, bringing in big herds of camels for water. We will travel to Awash National Park in the afternoon to see the stunning Awash Falls and perhaps go on an evening wildlife drive. Animals include oryx, baboons, warthogs, gazelles, larger and smaller kudus, and colobus monkeys will be encountered. There's a chance you might get to see some of the big cats.
