At 7:30 a.m., an Adventure In The Wild Safaris guide will pick you up from your home and transport you to the mokoro station in a 4x4 vehicle. The drive takes about 1.5 hours. The community polers will welcome you to the mokoro station. You will go on the mokoro tour for two hours (depending on sightings). You will travel through the canals of the huge Okavango Delta before stopping on an island for a brief guided nature walk. You will most likely come into close contact with elephants, zebras, and antelopes. After the trek, you'll have a picnic lunch, board the mokoro, and return to the station, which should take around an hour. When you arrive at the station, an Adventure In The Wild Safaris guide will be there to transport you back to your home, arriving in Maun at 3:00 p.m.
Tour overview
Indigenous people in the area use mokoro, an antiquated mode of transportation, to cross the delta. From the low view point of a dugout boat, known by the locals as a mokoro, you'll see a local tradition that has defined how safaris are conducted in the Okavango Delta. You will have a unique opportunity to experience this inaccessible wilderness because mokoro polers will share their local history and extensive knowledge of the area's flora and fauna with you.
