2-Day Ntwetwe Pan Overnight from Maun/Kasane

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Maun or Kasane and taken to Planet Baobab, where you will be picked up later in the afternoon for an overnight stay at Ntwetwe Pan. You'll drive through vast grasslands, past lonely baobab sentinels, to the edge of Ntwetwe Salt Pan. Along the walk, your guide will discuss the remarkable adaptations of the species that are unique to the Kalahari Desert environment. When you arrive at the lunar landscape of Ntwetwe Salt Pan, you will be treated to breathtaking views of shimmering salt that stretch as far as the eye can see. Go where no man has gone before, far into the uncharted wilderness of the wide and empty saltpans. This afternoon, you'll meet some of the Kalahari's most fascinating inhabitants: meerkats. After your meerkat adventure, it's time to return to camp, or, more accurately, the middle of nowheresville! Enjoy a drink before a solitary but stunning sunset, then your ever-talented guide will prepare a BBQ dinner. The main destination is Ntwetwe Pan (Makgadikgadi Pans NP). Wake up to the Kalahari sun rising between your feet. Warm your hands with a mug of scorching hot coffee and enjoy the tranquility. This morning, you'll look for the stone tools that are still scattered on the salt pan's surface, and your guide will explain how the tools were made as well as how man evolved. Remember that this is not your property. Throw them back where they came from. When you think you can't take any more stone-aged antiques, you'll return to the edge of Ntwetwe Pan and explore the surrounding area in search of uniquely suited desert creatures like bat-eared foxes, springbok, and kori bustards. Then it's back to Planet Baobab for a well-deserved shower and delicious brunch. Then you'll be transported back to Maun or Kasane. The main destination is Ntwetwe Pan (Makgadikgadi Pans NP).
