3-Day Meerkat Mania Salt Pan Sleepout & Quad Bike Safari

A road transfer is included from Maun to Planet Baobab. After arriving at Planet Baobab and settling into your cozy and comfortable hut, go for a walk with your guide around the neighboring Baobab forest. He'll discuss the local ecology, geology, and, of course, the unusual biology of baobabs, which are the world's largest succulents rather than trees. Enjoy a fiery Botswana sunset with a refreshing drink over a campfire while your guide describes the Makgadikgadi's interesting geological history. This immense saltpan desert, the size of Switzerland, was once the world's greatest stretch of fresh water! Return to Planet Baobab for an incredibly excellent Pan-African meal.

After a tasty breakfast, take a tour of the bustling city of Gweta to learn about current African village life. Set off to see a local cattle post and be taken around a traditional Batswana residence. We can responsibly explore the vast emptiness of the Makgadikgadi using quad bikes, leaving only a thin track for summer rains to wash away. Go where no man has gone before, deep into the uncharted wilderness of the huge and empty saltpans. Open the throttle, close your eyes, and travel, knowing there is nothing to collide with until you go off the edge of the Earth. After an action-packed day, curl up in your bedroll beneath the spectacular Makgadikgadi skies, your very own star-spangled ceiling. Imagine silence, drowsiness, and baobabs. This is a sleepout on the Pan with no tent.

Wake up to the Kalahari sun rising between your feet. Warm your hands with a mug of scorching hot coffee and enjoy the tranquility. Quad back to the edge of Ntwetwe Pan, then set off with your guide to explore the surrounding area in search of particularly adapted desert species, including bat-eared foxes, springbucks, kori bustards, and meerkats, some of the Kalahari's most fascinating inhabitants. Due to a continuing habituation project, tourists may get up close and personal with these amazing creatures. Remember, they are not tame—they are simply accustomed to our nonthreatening presence. On chilly mornings, a meerkat may snuggle up to you for warmth. In the absence of a termite mound or tree, use your head as a sentry lookout point. The tour road transfer back to Maun Airport is included.
