    Day 3

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Wake early for one of the biggest highlights of the safari—mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After breakfast, drive to the Kinigi park headquarters for registration, briefing and allocation to a habituated gorilla family. You will then enter the misty Virunga forest accompanied by experienced ranger guides and trackers. The trek can take anywhere from a few hours to much longer depending on where the gorilla family is located, and the terrain may be steep, muddy and physically demanding. As you move deeper into the forest, trackers follow signs such as footprints, feeding sites and broken vegetation to locate the gorillas. When the family is found, you will have the opportunity to observe these incredible animals in their natural environment. Watch the silverback protect the group, mothers care for their young and juveniles play and interact among the vegetation. After the permitted viewing time, trek back to the park headquarters and return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Spend the afternoon recovering from the trek while enjoying the beautiful volcanic surroundings before dinner.

    Day 4

    Volcanoes – Rwanda/Uganda Border – Bwindi

After breakfast, leave the Volcanoes region and begin the scenic journey towards southwestern Uganda. This is the Rwanda–Uganda border crossing day, with your guide assisting you through the necessary immigration procedures before continuing into Uganda. The landscape changes dramatically as you travel through the highlands, with terraced farms, villages, valleys and forest-covered mountains creating beautiful scenery along the route. Continue towards your selected Bwindi trekking sector, because the appropriate lodge should be chosen according to where your gorilla permit is located. After arriving, check into your lodge and enjoy lunch. The afternoon is intentionally relaxed following the border crossing and transfer. You can take a gentle community walk, interact with local residents, or simply enjoy the forest surroundings from your lodge. Your guide will also brief you about tomorrow's gorilla trek and help you prepare your hiking gear. Enjoy dinner and rest early before your second mountain gorilla experience.

    Day 5

Second Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park

After an early breakfast, head to the appropriate Bwindi park headquarters for registration and a detailed briefing before beginning your second gorilla trekking experience. This time you will explore the ancient rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, creating a fascinating contrast with the volcanic forests of Rwanda. Experienced rangers and trackers will lead you through thick vegetation, towering trees, vines and steep forest trails as you search for your assigned gorilla family. The trek can be physically demanding, but every step brings you deeper into one of Africa's most remarkable rainforest ecosystems. Once the gorillas are located, settle quietly and observe the family as they go about their natural routines. You may see a powerful silverback, mothers caring for infants, juveniles playing and other members feeding or grooming one another. Having two gorilla trekking experiences in two different countries gives you the opportunity to appreciate the different landscapes and personalities of the gorilla families. After the viewing session, trek back to the trailhead and return to your lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing and celebrating another unforgettable encounter before dinner.

After breakfast, leave Bwindi and travel towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda's famous savannah and wildlife destination. Depending on your route and road conditions, you can travel through the scenic Ishasha sector, which is particularly famous for its tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a game drive through the sector while your guide searches for lions resting in large fig trees, elephants, buffaloes, topis and other wildlife. The transition from Bwindi's dense rainforest to the open savannah landscapes of Queen Elizabeth creates an impressive change of scenery during the journey. Continue towards the northern section of the park and check into your lodge. Enjoy lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing or taking an optional short game drive if time permits. The evening offers a peaceful opportunity to enjoy the sounds of the African wilderness around your lodge. Dinner and overnight prepare you for tomorrow's full wildlife experience.

    Day 7

    Queen Elizabeth – Entebbe/Kampala – Departure

After breakfast, leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and begin the journey towards Entebbe for your departure flight. The route takes you through Uganda's countryside, passing villages, farms, plantations and busy trading centres along the way. Depending on your flight schedule, you can make a stop at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe, where you can take photographs, browse local craft shops and enjoy a final Ugandan experience. Continue towards Entebbe and arrive at the airport in good time for check-in and your international flight. If your flight is late in the evening, lunch can be arranged along the route and additional short stops can be made where appropriate. If your flight is the following morning, an optional overnight in Entebbe can easily be added. As you leave Uganda, you will have completed an incredible cross-border adventure beginning in Rwanda's Virunga Mountains and continuing through Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth National Park. The combination of two gorilla trekking experiences, Rwanda's volcanic landscapes, Uganda's rainforest, savannah wildlife and the Kazinga Channel makes this an excellent short East African adventure.
