Each day below shows where you go, what you experience, and where you can stay—luxury, mid-range, and budget lodge options included.

  1. Day 1

Arrival in Kigali & transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Meet-and-greet in Kigali (airport or city hotel). After a brief orientation, drive into the northwest toward Musanze and the Virunga volcanoes. Lunch is usually taken en route or after check-in.

Afternoon free at the lodge: rest, enjoy the garden or viewing decks, and go through trek clothing with your guide. An optional short community or twin-lakes visit can be arranged if you arrive early and prefer not to sit still.

  2. 3 Day Rwanda Gorilla Safari

    Day 2

Mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Early transfer to Kinigi HQ for RDB briefing and family assignment. Trek with rangers through bamboo and Hagenia forest until your habituated group is located, then spend the allotted one hour with the gorillas. Photograph without flash, keep the respectful distance asked by rangers, and take in the quiet of the encounter.

Return to the lodge for a hot lunch and a soft afternoon—spa, fireplace, or simply mud-free clothes and a long view of the cones. Optional late cultural walk only if legs still feel lively.

  3. 3 Day Rwanda Gorilla Safari

    Day 3

Return to Kigali (optional city highlights)

Breakfast overlooking the highlands, then drive back to Kigali. If timing allows before your flight or onward hotel check-in, we can include a focused stop such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial or a craft-market browse—kept optional so the morning never feels rushed after a hard trek day.

Drop-off at the airport or your chosen Kigali hotel marks the end of this classic gorilla trekking circuit. Explore further Rwanda safaris when you want wildlife savannahs or canopy walks next time.
