The adventure begins with a pick up from Kigali, Rwanda airport on arrival or at the Hotel after your breakfast. You will be meat and greeted by our tour guide who will brief you about the safari and embark on a scenic journey towards the southwestern part of Uganda. The drive, approximately four to five hours, offers a picturesque view of the Rwandan countryside, characterized by rolling hills, lush green valleys, and terraced farms. The route leads to the Cyanika border post, where the necessary immigration formalities are completed. The transition from Rwanda to Uganda marks the entry into a different landscape, gradually giving way to the dense forests that are home to the famous mountain gorillas. Upon arrival in Uganda, the journey continues towards , a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich biodiversity and dense tropical rainforest. The second day begins with an early morning wake-up call, followed by a hearty breakfast to fuel the day’s activities. Equipped with packed lunches and essential trekking gear, you will head to the park headquarters for registration and a detailed briefing on the day’s trek. The anticipation builds as small groups of trekkers, each accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, are assigned to different gorilla families you will be tracking. The trek into the forest begins, with the duration varying from a few hours to most of the day, depending on the location of the gorillas. The hike through the dense undergrowth, steep slopes, and muddy trails can be challenging, but the reward is well worth the effort. As you navigate through the forest, you will be immersed in the sights and sounds of the jungle, encountering a variety of flora and fauna along the way. Suddenly, the guide signals the presence of the gorillas. Heart rates quicken as the group quietly approaches the family of mountain gorillas. The hour spent in the presence of these magnificent creatures is nothing short of magical. Observing the gorillas in their natural habitat, witnessing their interactions, and recognizing the shared traits between humans and these gentle giants creates an unforgettable connection. After the one hour, return to the park headquarters, often reflecting on the profound experience they have just had. The return trek is typically less strenuous, you will meet up with your drive guide who will drive you back to the lodge. In the evening, you may opt for Batwa community visit to the local community or optional transfer to lake Bunyonyi. The final day starts with a leisurely breakfast, followed by checking out of the lodge and start your journey back to Kigali. On arrival, depending on your flight schedule, you may opt for Kigali city to tour to visit some of the iconic sites in Rwanda like the Genocide memorial center with sad and unpleasant history, the Rwandan Art Museum, Kimironko Market among others. You will have lunch and thereafter, a drop off the Kigali international Airport for your departure flight back home.
